Rav Mayer Lichtenstein, married with seven children, lives in Beit Shemesh. Born in 5724/1964 in New York, U.S.A., he came on aliyah in 5731/1971.

In 5742/1982 Rav Mayer studied under his grandfather - Rav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik zt"l - at the R' Yitzchak Elchanan Yeshiva at Yeshiva University . His primary religious education was at Yeshivat Har Etzion where Rav Mayer studied for eight years and through its Hesder program served in the Armored Corps. Rav Mayer received his Semikha from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, and was also accredited with a B.A. from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, in the History of the Jewish People. Rav Mayer, fluent in Hebrew and English, has just completed an M.A. in Talmud.

He has taught at Yeshivat Hakibbutz Hadati since 5754/1994 and is now the Instructor of Faculty for the Overseas Program as well as being the Ram of Tochnit Hemshekh, the students who return to study after completing their army service. Rav Mayer, who specializes in the teaching of Talmud as well as the development and the transference of the Oral Law, has taught at the Herzog Teacher Training College, teaches at the Beit Midrash “Hevruta”, based at the Hebrew University and also teaches at Matan, the Centre for Advanced Talmud Study in Jerusalem.
